Adamson University captain Michael Sudaria opened up about debacle they went through against National University in the UAAP Season 78 men’s volleyball tournament Wednesday at the Philsports Arena.
Parading a more experienced lineup, the Soaring Falcons bowed to the Bulldogs in straight sets — with the third frame going 25-7 in NU’s favor.
“We knew we could beat them,” Sudaria told FOX Sports in Filipino. “We prepared for them, but we were overconfident.”
The senior spiker admitted that there was something going on within the team that affected their game.
“During the first set, we were okay. But towards the end, there were misunderstandings. We were arguing inside the court. We ended up not talking to each other anymore,” he said.
“It was bad timing as well that our game was scheduled on a day that we all weren’t okay — that there was something going on.”
Sudaria, who only scored 3 points, said that he would not be able to do everything alone.
“As captain, I cannot say that I would lead the team. I hope my teammates can fill in during the times I can’t,” he added. “God has plans. This happened so that we are able to release the tension we have with each other.” — By Arylle Magtalas
