Denden Lazaro has nothing but good words for EJ Laure after the UST spiker starred in their upset of Bali Pure in the Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference Saturday night.
Laure had a game-high 23 points she spiked with 20 kills as the Golden Tigresses rolled to their third straight win in the season-ending tournament.
And Lazaro, who manned the floor for the Purest Water Defenders, marveled at the junior outside hitter’s improvement since when they last met.
“Even naman before malakas naman talaga sya e. I think she’s improved things over the years and I’m happy for her,” Lazaro said. “Malaking impact talaga when you have her as a teammate or an ace spiker and she kept on working hard to improve her craft. Nakita naman natin how she was able to deliver for her team.”
Lazaro attributed Laure’s rise to her stint with Foton, where she played in the PSL All-Filipino Conference finals and the Asian Women’s Volleyball Club Championship.
“Ngayon mas confident na sya, nakalaro na sya sa different leagues, she was able to get a lot of experience and exposure,” she said. “Nakalaro sya with older players doon nya nakuha yung learnings and confidence nya na nadala nya sa UST. It’s good for them, especially for the UAAP.” — By John Chester Fajardo
