UST spikers EJ Laure and Cherry Rondina made it clear they will prioritize the Golden Tigresses over their PSL duties in the upcoming Grand Prix.
Fortunately for the duo, Foton management is cool with it.
Newly-appointed team operations head Diane Santiago said the team completely understands the situation and will pave the way for their collegiate players to fulfill first their commitment to their mother squad.
“Okay lang yun kasi before naman kunin yung player, tinitignan na nila yung mga pwedeng possible na mangyari saka mosther team kasi nila yung UST,” she told FOX Sports.
Laure and Rondina will face a tough schedule starting on October 8, as schedules of both the V-League Reinforced Conference and the PSL Grand Prix will overlap at times.
On top of that, the Tigresses have to tend to their academic duties.
Nonetheless, Santiago said they will still include both Laure and Rondina in the lineup as the Tornadoes gear up to defend their championship.
“Alam naman na yun ng mga coaches. So pag may conflict sa training, like may class sila, excused naman sila sa training for Foton kasi may training naman din sila sa UST,” she said.
The team manager said it’s just a matter of priorities.
“If they prioritize sa UST sila maglalaro so most probably talaga sa UST sila kasi di ba college pa lang sila,” she added. “Malinaw naman sa management and coaches pag nagsabay yung games, priority nila is collegiate.” — By John Chester Fajardo
