UP breaks FEU ‘curse’ to near V-League bronze medal

UP finally broke its spell against FEU, but the Lady Maroons had to work hard for a 4-set win over the Lady Tamaraws in their battle-for-third match Wednesday night at the Philsports Arena.

Raring to bounce back from a string of losses to FEU, the Diliman belles impressed in the first 2 sets before wasting 5 match points in a tightly-fought third frame.

The wards of coach Jerry Yee, however, recovered just in time to get a clear chance at the bronze medal if NU finishes off Ateneo in Game 2 of their 13th Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference championship series.
