UP has not been stellar of late and top gun Isa Molde has been one of the main reasons why.
The incoming sophomore, who won the UAAP Rookie of the Year award in Season 78, admitted she has earned the ire of coach Jerry Yee because of her string of lackluster outings.
“Nagalit siya sa akin kasi yung pinapakita ko the past games ang pangit ng first ball, ang pangit ng palo ko,” she said. “Gusto niya mag step up (ako).”
Molde scored just 8 points in the Lady Maroons’ drubbing of San Sebastian College on Wednesday and she believes her inconsistent play is because of psychological factors.
“Kabado lang,” she admitted. “Pero in-expect nila coach na maglalaro ako ng maayos.”
The Cebu native shared UP provided an in-house psychologist during the UAAP season, helping them cope with the pressure and stress of being a student-athlete.
This, however, has not been available to them in the offseason.
“After nung season hindi na kami nagkikita, nagse-session sa kanya. Yung psychology ano namin nakakatulong din sya na maka-gain ng confidence,” she said, but assured fans that she will rise up again as the Lady Maroons face a tough challenge in the Final Four.
“Sa amin, gusto namin mag-champion pero di naman namin yun makukuha basta-basta,” she added. “Syempre dadahan-dahanin namin.” — By John Chester Fajardo
