Mental lapses took their toll on the defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs as they suffered their lone loss in the 13th Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference.
This and poor reception, according to assistant coach Edjet Mabbayad, doomed NU to a humiliating 25-15, 27-25, 25-17 loss at the hands of the Ateneo Lady Eagles.
In reality, both teams had poor receptions but it was in the attacking department where the Lady Eagles took advantage.
Ateneo had 13 more attack points over the Bulldogs.
Despite the upset, the assistant coach said NU learned its lesson hoping for a bounce back game come Monday when the second round of tournament begins against the UST Growling Tigers.
– By Chester Fajardo
