Italian coach Fabio Menta wants to upgrade Foton’s defensive schemes

Foton has bolstered the minds behind their volleyball program tapping FIVB International volleyball instructor coach Fabio Menta to lead the Tornadoes.

Menta will take the reigns from coach Vilet Ponce-de Leon in the 2016 Asian Women’s Club Championship which will be held on September3-11 at the Alonte Sports Arena, Biñan, Laguna and the following conferences in the Philippine Superliga.

“In the past year, I have been watching games of the Philippine volleyball teams and I must admit that it’s the Foton Tornadoes who really caught my attention,” Menta said.

Menta has two decades of coaching experience with previous stints in Cuba, New Caledonia among other countries.

Just this year, the Italian coach was appointed by the FIVB as an international instructor to develop a grassroot course for beach volleyball in Majuro and Marshall Islands where his mentoring teams qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Menta will have his first acid test when Foton campaigns in the Asian Club Championship which is less than a month from now.

“My goal is to make a higher upgrade by preparing new defensive schemes. The leagues where the Tornadoes have participated are evidences of their potential but it should not end there.” – By John Chester Fajardo
