Rubie de Leon is frustrated and she is not afraid to show it.
The veteran setter lost her temper during Generika’s win over Cignal because of the team’s sloppy plays that have repeatedly slowed down the progress of the Lifesavers the entire conference.
“Nakakahinayang kasi yung mga bolang pinaghihirapang habulin tas hindi nila naco-convert sa point o minsan nage-error pa so as a setter siguro nakaka-frustrate na ganun yung nangyayari na hindi lang isa hindi lang dalawa kung hindi marami talaga,” De Leon told FOX Sports after the game.
Even with the win, the talismanic playmaker could not help but rue their missed chance to blow the HD Spikers out.
Instead, Generika had to grind out a hard-fought 20-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22 victory in their second round opener.
“Alam namin na kaya yung kalaban,” she insisted. “Alam namin na kaya naming tambakan, kayang layuan ng puntos pero dahil sa errors namin natutulungan namin sila para manalo.”
“Ganun yung nangyayari most of the games na more on errors. Ang nangyayari tinatalo namin yung sarili namin kaya nakakafrustrate as a senior player sa loob,” she added.
De Leon said she is not worried that the young players of the team may take her in-game exasperation negatively, saying that it was only for the group’s improvement.
“Alam naman nila na kahit galit ako para din naman sa kanila yun. Ine-explain din naman namin nila coach na syempre kung masabihan man kayo ng masama during the game or during the practice take it is a positive para makatulong din sa inyo siguro as experience,” she said. — By John Chester Fjardo
