And the 13th Shakey’s V-League Open Conference best of the best have been named.
Minutes before Game 2 of the finals between Air Force and Pocari Sweat started, the organizers recognized the tournament’s cream of the crop Saturday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.
While it was already previously announced that NCAA standout Grethcel Soltones will be taking home the Conference MVP plum, the rest of the individual awardees were revealed in front of the fans in attendance.
After their intense showdown in the semis, UAAP stars Alyssa Valdez and Myla Pablo were cited as the 1st and 2nd Best Outside Hitters, respectively, proving their claim as offensive juggernauts for their squads.
Though NU and UP both failed to break into the semifinals, the Lady Bulldogs’ Jaja Santiago and the Lady Maroons’ Kathy Bersola were awarded for their dominance at the net as the 1st and 2nd Best Middle Blockers, respectively.
Pocari Sweat team captain Michele Gumabao is definitely back to her fighting form after getting the Best Opposite Spiker award all thanks to her all-around performance from offense and defense to her patented leadership inside the court.
In the non-scoring department, former La Salle stalwart Melissa Gohing is once again recognized as the best libero in the competition besting the likes of Denden Lazaro and Eunice Galang.
Without a doubt the runaway best setter of the league, Wendy Semana will be going home with the recognition which will surely serve as the perfect reminder that she hasn’t lost her touch yet and how she used to dominate in the collegiate ranks for FEU.
