Sister act: EJ, Eya Laure to reunite for UST in Collegiate Conference

There is a reunion at hand in the upcoming Shakey’s V-League Collegiate Conference.

Once a force to be reckoned with in the UAAP juniors division, EJ and Eya Laure will now have a chance to revisit the good old days as they reunite for UST in the tournament that starts later this month.

According to coach Kung Fu Reyes, the younger Laure, as well as setter Ma. Regina Mangulabnan, will see playing time with some seniors composed mostly of Team B players.

Middle-blocker-turned-open-spiker Aimee Hernandez was also supposed to crack the lineup but a left knee injury cost her spot in the roster.

“Cleared na. Nag-consult din kami sa opisina regarding sa eligibility. As long as same school wala namang prooblema,” Reyes told FOX Sports during the course of the Shakey’s Girls Leage of the Champions.

However, Reyes noted that once the UAAP high school competition starts, she will pull the juniors out of the lineup.

“That’s the time na hindi ko na sila papalaruin doon. Once na magstart si UAAP sub na din sila,” he said.

For Eya, she’s just excited for the opportunity to play again with her sister. Both were supposed to reunite in the collegiate ranks in Season 79, but the K-12 implementation halted the sibling’s reunion in the UAAP for 2 more years.

“Excited na super happy kasi makakasama ko na ulit si ate EJ,” said the high school superstar. “Namiss ko talaga syang kasama, yung tandem naming kumbaga.” — By John Chester Fajardo
