Juggling her studies and stint for Pocari took a toll on Myla Pablo as she played below par in Game 1 of their Shakey’s V-League semifinals showdown against Bali Pure.
Far from her killer form last weekend against the same foe, Pablo struggled to stay in the game as she was dealing with overfatigue with a round-the-clock activity of studying, training, and game days.
“Nanigas lang ang binti ko, siguro sobrang pagod na rin kasi dire-direcho yung game tapos training,” said Pablo, who finished with 8 points in their straight-set loss at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
Worse, Pablo had to drop by the hospital after experiencing sleeping problems the day before their crucial match-up.
“Madaling araw, alas dos na, hindi ako makatulog, nag-ice na ako. Nagpunta akong ospital, pina-inom ako ng pampatulog,” she shared, adding she was dismissed at around 4:00 a.m on Tuesday.
A graduating Marketing student at National University, Pablo admitted she is having a hard time balancing her academic work load and volleyball duties for the Lady Warriors.
“Sobrang hassle kasi, masyado akong maaga pumapasok, siguro 9am-6pm diretso. Hassle pero walang magagawa, aral po yan,” she said.
Now at the crucial stage of the tourney, Pablo she is trying her best to meet the demands of a student and a professional athlete at hte same time.
“Humahabol na lang, pagdating ng bahay, pagod. humahabol ako (tapos) game, coach habol ako sa games, kasi may pasok ako,” she said. “Wala eh, kasi wala akong magagawa, kailangan ako ng team ko so kailangan i-push, kailangan indain na.” — By Jason Mercene
