An optimistic Pau Soriano knows winless Standard Insurance-Navy needs only one win in order to break through in the PSL All-Filipino Conference after going blank in their first 2 tries.
The intimidating task, however, requires patience as the team’s chemistry needs more time to develop as they have different players who have never played with each other except for Soriano and Janet Serafica.
“Kailangan lang namin ng isang panalo para magkaroon kami ng magandang umpisa.,” said the former Adamson star, who led the Lady Corvettes with 11 points in a losing effort against RC Cola. “Syempre dahil sa mga talo namin na game dapat natututo kami. Marami pa namang game, marami pang chance para makabawi.”
Standard Insurance-Navy was at par with RC Cola-Army in almost every statistical facet in the 3-set game, but Soriano said the team faltered in crucial moments, something the Lady Troopers gamely took advantage of.
And while the Lady Corvettes committed 7 less errors than Army, she added their opponents were easy to react and get back in the next plays.
“Meron pang mga lapses. Kulang pa sya although maganda takbo ng game, nag-stop kami,” she said. “May time na nagrerelax. Hindi sabay-sabay yung tempo. Exposure pa, nandoon pa kami sa stage na developing ang team.”
