After an awe-inspiring comeback last Saturday, Pocari Sweat fell flat Monday night.
Air Force took advantage of the Lady Warriors’ faulty reception, firing 15 service aces to come up with a huge upset and take the top seed heading into the semifinals of the 13th Shakey’s V-League Open Conference at the Philsports Arena.
Playing with no pressure, the Jet Spikers handed Pocari its first loss in the tournament while also setting up a Final Four battle with Laoag.
Four Air Force spikers finished in double figures, with Joy Cases and Jocemer Tapic leading the way with 17 points apiece.
Tapic had 4 aces while Judy Caballejo, who finished with 14 markers, delivered a game-high 5 points from the service line.
Myla Pablo top scored for the Lady Warriors with 16 points, but the wards of coach Rommel Abella would have to settle with a dangerous matchup against Bali Pure in the semifinals on Wednesday.
Elaine Kasilag and Michele Gumabao each posted 10 points for Pocari Sweat.
