With NU bowing out of semifinals contention, head coach Roger Gorayeb thinks wounds of the past continue to hold them back.
“Alam na nila yung errors nila, tapos uulit na naman ngayon, parang sugat yon na dumudugo na naman, gagaling ng kaunti, dudugo na naman,” the veteran coach described as the Lady Bulldogs fell at the hands of UP in the 13th Shakey’s V-League Open Conference at the Philsports Arena Saturday afternoon.
Although he stressed NU was not gunning for the championship, Gorayeb rued the lack of aggressiveness from the Lady Bulldogs at the latter end of the elimination round, where they blew 3 5-setter games.
“Nakatakbo na kami, tapos bumalik na naman. Parang bumalik sila sa dati nilang style na ‘bahala ka na ah, ang sama ng laro ko.’Parang ganun,” he said.
Gorayeb emphasized they should overcome their internal fears to be able to make it to the next level.
“Bumalik sila sa dati nilang mentality, pag naprepressure sila, bumibigay. Sabi ko nga yung ghost of past should stop haunting them kasi nagbago na,” he added.
With still 2 months to prepare for the Collegiate Conference, Gorayeb only hopes for the best for the Sampaloc belles.
“Sana mabago na naming lahat lahat, balik kami sa basic ulit nyan kasi di kami makakamove on pag ganito kami palagi.” — By Jason Mercene
