Not long ago, CJ Rosario was contemplating whether she would pursue a career in volleyball or not.
But after deciding to continue, the sister of PBA and Gilas Pilipinas stalwart Troy has made a name for herself, too.
Rosario is considered the favorite to be tabbed first overall when the Philippine SuperLiga holds its annual Rookie Draft Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
And frankly, her success wouldn’t have happened had she decided to not “match” her brother, who has also experienced skyrocketing popularity.
“Last time, nagdo-doubt ako kung itutuloy ko pa mag-volleyball,” she said. “Naisip ko na parang sayang, mainit yung pangalan ng kapatid ko. Kaya sabi ko, ‘Sige na nga, pantayan ko na lang. Pu-push ko na lang din.'”
Her decision has paid off, as both Rosarios are in the news, with Troy making waves in the ongoing SEABA Stankovic Cup in Thailand and CJ delivering the goods in the PSL Draft Combine.
“Oo naman sobra, kung hindi ka magperform nang maayos, lagi kami kinocompare,” when asked by FOX Sports if she was feeling pressure being related to the TNT big man.
But if ever she’s taken first overall, she will put one over his brother, who was picked second behind Fil-Tongan Mo Tautuaa in last year’s PBA draft.
“Di ko naman ineexpect yun, pero if ever magkaganun nga, siguro bahala na kung anong mabibigay ko, kung anong mapapakita ko, bibigay ko na lang lahat,” she said. — By Jason Mercene
