Dawn Macandili on pain after diving for balls: Manhid na rin ako

La Salle libero Dawn Macandili has been some sort of a ninja for the Lady Spikers this season, running — or dying — after the ball while sacrificing her body in the process.

And in her third year in the UAAP, she has been wildly successful, with Macandili actually emerging as the best floor defender in the league.

It’s a way kasi na mataas ko yung bola,” she told FOX Sports.

“Sobrang sarap din kasi nung feeling pag na-save mo yung bola kasi ibig sabihin pwedeng hindi kaagad makapuntos yung kalaban. Manhid narin ako e. Sanay na ko (sa sakit).”

Contributing 20 excellent receptions and 27 excellent digs in La Salle’s Final Four win over FEU, the Zobel alumna still wants to push herself more come the Finals on Saturday.

Passing through a rougher road this season as compared to rivals Ateneo, Macandili expressed a sigh of relief after overcoming all bumps on their road to the championship round.

“Masaya kasi nag pay off narin yung pinaghirapan namin. I look forward dun sa bagong aura ng team namin. Naging palaban kami kasi dun sa last game namin ng eliminations natalo kami in sets. Yun yung motivation namin para makabalik.”

“Inspiration ng team namin si Coach Ramil (De Jesus). Syempre lahat nung pinagpaguran niya, gusto naming ibalik sakanya,” she closed. — By Joyce Palad
