Season 78 truly is the end of an era in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
Every PH volleyball fan knows by now that some of the biggest names in the collegiate ranks like Alyssa Valdez, Ara Galang, Myla Pablo, Mika Reyes and Carmela Tunay among others are already on their last playing year for their respective schools.
Now, you can add the name of Adamson’s Mylene Paat in that long list as she confirmed to FOX Sports that she will no longer be returning in 2017.
“Hindi na (ako maglalaro next season),” she said via a text message.
This announcement follows Adamson’s disappointing seventh-place finish which was punctuated by a sorry loss against cellar-dweller UE last Wednesday.
Paat was named team captain of the Lady Falcons for their 2016 campaign but unfortunately, the girls off San Marcelino was hounded by numerous issues in the last 3 months, including the untimely resignation of former head coach Sherwin Meneses last March.
“Disappointed ako (sa) performance ko this season at sa nangyari sa team namin pero wala naman dapat sisihin,” Paat shared.
“Mas na-down ‘yung team nung umalis siya (Meneses) eh,” she added.
Though considered one of the top spikers today, Paat’s performance dipped this season wherein she struggled to dominate in her position as an opposite spiker.
For the Pangasinan native, however, it is now time to think about her future especially now that she is all set to finishing her college degree.
“Inisip ko na rin ‘yung sarili ko kahit ngayon lang tutal ga-graduate na ako. Apply ko na lang ‘yung natutunan ko sa alma mater ko,” said the skipper.
