Gyzel Sy’s decision to return to FEU for her final UAAP tournament generated considerable buzz before Season 78 began.
The excitement triggered was no surprise. After all, Sy was the Best Setter in Season 74 but sat out Season 77 to focus on her semi-pro career.
Sy, however, has had an up-and-down campaign so far.
“Malungkot.
Pero ginagawa ko yun in a positive way.
The Cavite native finally found redemption last Wednesday, when she fired 49 excellent sets in the Lady Tamaraws’ 4-set romp over UST that strengthened their Final Four bid.
“Wow. Masaya!” was Sy’s immediate reaction after learning of her feat.
Getting sent in and out of the court repeatedly during games, the fifth-year playmaker just makes sure she is ready when coach Shaq delos Santos calls her name.
— By Arylle Magtalas
