Ateneo’s 3-peat chances took a hit after Maddie Madayag injured her knee in training.
An ACL tear is feared, but won’t be confirmed until Wednesday noon, when the Lady Eagles’ doctor makes his final assessment, according to a source who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.
“Malaki na chance na ACL,” he said. “After mag running spike (nangyari yung injury).”
Madayag has been the biggest revelation for Ateneo this season, rising to become one of the UAAP’s top middle blockers and best servers.
If and when she misses a lot of time recovering from her injury, the Lady Eagles would be hard-pressed to replace the Davao native’s production as the Final Four looms.
The back-to-back queens are currently ahead of the pack with an 8-2 record. — By Mac Dionisio
