Rachel Daquis motivated to learn from Thai idols in international stint

Team captain Rachel Daquis joined the PSL All-Stars training for the 1st time, with a little over a week before they plunge into action in the Thai-Denmark Super League on March 23.

After missing their previous practice sessions due to prior commitments, Daquis said her transition to playing with different teammates has been seamless.

“Magaan. Kumbaga, kahit hindi kami galing sa isang team, magkakakilala kami,” she said.

PSL head Tats Suzara said in an earlier interview that more than winning matches, getting exposure to international competition will be the team’s biggest goal when it competes.

But the competitor in Daquis vows to give it all for the Philippines.

“Lalaban kami,” she stressed. “Syempre ibibigay namin yung best namin.

With some of the best spikers in Thailand — a regional powerhouse — competing, Daquis admitted she is looking forward to do battle with her idols.

— By Joyce Palad
