Bernadeth Pons on loss to Ateneo: Kaming mga seniors, nawala

Leading up to their rematch against defending champion Ateneo, FEU prepared well and hard, says Bernadeth Pons, studying every play of the Lady Eagles as they geared up for a possible upset.

Alas, it didn’t happen for the Lady Tamaraws and Pons admits they lost probably because of over-excitement.

Alyssa Valdez had 20 points in just 3 sets for Ateneo, highlighting the fact that none of the Morayta spikers even broke into double figures in a game when a third of their total points came off the Lady Eagles’ errors.

In a separate interview, FEU coach Shaq delos Santos blasted his veterans, especially Pons and senior Remy Palma, for not stepping up to the plate.

With their season on the line when they face NU this weekend, the Lady Tamaraws would have to get solid production from their old hands to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Pons, for one, knows the implications of their battle against the Lady Bullodgs.

“Kailangan namin maka-recover talaga,” she said. — By Joyce Palad
