Veteran libero Princess Gaiser happy to contribute for rising UP

She might not be UP’s libero on the floor all the time, but veteran Princess Gaiser is just happy to be able to contribute for the Lady Maroons, who have been turning heads in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament.

The St. Scholastica’s alum has shared playing time with young Arielle Estranero in the last 2 seasons, a move by coach Jerry Yee to take advantage of the duo’s strength in digging and reception, respectively.

Yee’s decision has paid off handsomely, as UP is in the thick of the fight for the top spot with a 6-3 record so far.

Gaiser supports her coach’s choice, as long as it helps the team work wonders.

Magaling siya sa receive and mas specialty ko talaga yung digs,” she said.

The charming floor defender says she pushes herself in training, so she is ready when she gets the call to man the floor for the Lady Maroons.

And now that the Diliman belles are inching closer to their first Final Four appearance in recent memory, Gaiser said she isn’t satisfied just yet.

“There’s always room for improvement. — By Arylle Magtalas
