They might have lost their array of stars, but Petron libero Jen Reyes believes the Tri-Activ has what it takes to be the best in the PSL Invitational.
Reyes and her team make their tournament debut on Tuesday, facing nemesis Cignal HD in what is tipped to be an exciting battle at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
“Na-excite kami maglaro. Yung preparations namin ngayon sobrang ikli, lalo na ngayon, madami kaming bagong players, so madaming adjustments sa team,” she told FOX Sports.
Petron underwent an off-season makeover, bidding goodbye to old hands like Dindin Santiago, Fille Cayetano, Rachel Daquis and Aby Marano.
Reyes said it hasn’t been an easy transition for the Tri-Activ, who are also sporting a new moniker after using Blaze Spikers in their past campaigns in the PSL.
Nonetheless, the NU alumna hopes to help make the changes seamless as they begin their tournament versus the HD Spikers.
“Bilang isa sa senior sa team, dapat ako yung isa sa magdadala,” she said. “Ipapa-alala sa bawat isa na kung ano ang kakayahan nila at ipakita kung anong meron sila. Boost your confidence ika nga!”
And even though they will be leaning on a lot more youngsters from now on, Reyes knows they will remain competitive.
“We train hard and andun yung mindset namin na gusto namin matuto,” she stressed. “Expect na lang nila na andun pa rin yung confidence and pride. Ngayon, lahat ng teams magagaling and mga beterano talaga.”
“Pero sa Petron, andun pa rin yung puso maglaro and of course, manalo.” — By Joyce Palad
