As comeback falls short, Delos Santos wants FEU to overcome pressure

Down 2 sets to none, FEU rallied to force a 5th set against La Salle in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Center.

But the Lady Tamaraws’ comeback ultimately fell short, as the Lady Spikers leaned on a stellar Cyd Demecillo performance in the deciding frame to come out victorious.

Nevertheless, coach Shaq delos Santos liked what he saw from his wards, especially in the 3rd and 4th sets.

“Yung totoo, satisfied ako,” he said.

Delos Santos admitted FEU dug its grave early by showing faulty floor defense and exhibiting poor body language.

But the veteran mentor said he simply told the Lady Tamaraws to forget about their lackluster start and focus on their goal to beat their heavily-favored opponents.

Unfortunately for him, the Morayta squad couldn’t perform well under pressure, especially when the going got tough in the final set.

— By Arylle Magtalas
