Injured Pam Lastimosa hopes to play for UST again in Season 79

Despite unable to lend her killer spikes to UST due to injury, Pam Lastimosa firmly believes that her teammates can still do wonders this season.

“Yung pagkainjury ko naman di ko iniisip na negative,” said Lastimosa to FOX Sports after watching the Golden Tigresses wallop UE in straight sets Saturday. “I believe na kaya nila yung mga ginagalaw nila ngayon.”

Considered one of the scoring options for the Espana belles, former team captain Lastimosa was stopped by an ACL injury she suffered during a practice game in December 2015.

Lastimosa’s absence in the line-up left doubts on UST’s chance to return in the Final Four of Season 78, but their current 2-game winning streak and a sweep victory over powerhouse La Salle squad proved otherwise.

“Tumataas na yung intensity nung games nila, may tiwala naman ako sa kanila na coming 2nd round, mag-iimprove sila at marami silang magagawang plays and hopefully, magtuloy tuloy sa final four,” shared Lastimosa, who is on her 3rd phase of therapy.

On an update on her recovery, she said, “Di ko pa alam kung ilang percent pero di pa ako tumatalon, pero nagjojog na, yung mga dynamics (nagagawa ko na).”

Lastimosa also revealed that she may still have 1 playing year left before calling her collegiate career done.

“Tinanong ko na rin yan, naguguluhan rin ako mismo, tapos yun sabi nila coach I still have one year, iveverify ko sa kanila,” said Lastimosa.

“Hopefully, makalaro ako next season.” — By Jason Mercene
