For Jema Galanza, ending the 1st round on a winning note is all Adamson needs to stay in the hunt for the Final Four.
The comely spiker dazzled with a double-double of 15 points and 10 excellent receptions in the Lady Falcons’ 25-22, 25-22, 25-19 escape from UE Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Pampalakas ng loob yung panalo namin, kumbaga mas mareview namin at mas magawa pa namin yung mga play namin nang maayos,” said Galanza to FOX Sports as the Lady Falcons completed their 1st winning streak of the season.
As the San Marcelino belles lost 4 straight after an opening-game win, clouds of doubt surrounded the players themselves as internal issues tried to pull the team down.
Being tasked to lead a relatively young group, Galanza admits, sometimes gets into her head.
“Minsan naiinis kasi iniisip ko kung anong gagawin, naprepressure ako kasi kailangan may gawin ako kasi siyempre kasi di na ako bata, isa na rin ako sa nagdadala so kailangan nag-iisip akong mabuti kung pano ko at iba pang leader na dadalhin yung team,” she said.
Come the next round, Galanza stressed she will challenge herself and her teammates to help their coaches achieve a miraculous run to the semifinals.
“Nasa sarili rin naman yan. Di kailangan lagi sa coach ka dedepende kasi di naman sila yung naglalaro. So kami, nasa sa amin kung gusto naming maglaro o hindi, kung gusto namin magpakundisyon, o kung magiging ready ba kami this 2nd round,” she said.
“Uunahin naming i-aim na makapasok sa Final Four kasi lahat kasi ngayon lumalaban, tingnan mo UE, nakakadikit sa amin. Walang relax lang.” — By Jason Mercene
