Jamie Lavitoria on filling Denden Lazaro’s shoes in Ateneo-La Salle tiff

An Ateneo-La Salle battle will be without star libero Denden Lazaro, who has graduated from college, for the 1st time in a long while.

Tasked to try to duplicate Lazaro’s impact in the much-awaited tussle would be the Lady Eagles’ new defensive ace, Jamie Lavitoria, who has impressed in her last few games.

I do feel the pressure, but I don’t think about it. Because if I think about it, I’m going to lose track.” she told FOX Sports.

Saturday will be Lavitoria’s 1st time to actually play against the Lady Spikers and the belle from California was unable to hide her excitement about it.

“Excited. I’ve been preparing by doing the same thing every day. Service receive and just everything in training,” she said. “We’re just preparing like any other game.”

Knowing how crucial her role is for the defending champions, the converted libero is ready to face the challenge.

“Every role is crucial. But service receive is super important, because it’s the start of a play, so it’s probably one of the most challenging, but I like the challenge,” Lavitoria said. — By Arylle Magtalas
