FEU was well on its way to beating Adamson last Wednesday, building a 2-set lead and holding a 20-16 advantage in the 3rd frame.
But the Lady Tamaraws suddenly fell into a maze of errors, surrendering the set and eventually, the match in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament.
Coach Shaq delos Santos stressed he did all he can to push the Morayta spikers to rise above adversities.
“Yung service tsaka receive, sobrang pangit talaga. Yung momentum napunta sa Adamson,” he said. “But of course, ginawa naman namin lahat yung diskarte na kailangan nung team.”
FEU had 41 unforced errors, hastening their downfall as the battle for Final Four positioning heated up.
“I think yung maturity nung team namin, kasi yun yung hindi namin ma-maintain, so talagang dadaan yung ganung pagsubok. ‘Yun yung magiging reason para mas tumibay kami, so tatanggapin namin,” he said.
Delos Santos tried numerous ploys during the match, putting setter Gyzel Sy on and off the court to let her get a feel of the game and allow their other setters to make plays.
Unfortunately, this strategy backfired for Delos Santos.
“Hindi ganoon nag-click yung ganung diskarte,” he said. — By Arylle Magtalas
