Will Adamson-Ateneo go the distance like in Season 77?

While some teams are struggling to start strong in their respective games, it is the exact opposite for Adamson in UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament.

After an inspired start, winning against UST in a 5-set thriller, Adamson has skidded and is now on a 3-game losing streak.

Being the leading source of offense for the team, outside hitter Jema Galanza shared her thoughts on the Lady Falcons’ inability to keep their momentum from start to finish.

“Lagi kaming nagkukulang sa dulo,” she told the press.

On the San Marcelino squad’s last outing against UP, Galanza scorched hot with 25 points while teammate and team captain Mylene Paat was not far behind with 23 markers.

Their combined output was not enough to put out the fire of the young UP squad as the Lady Falcons sputtered anew in the 3rd and 4th frames.

On the team committing 32 big errors, she says, “Nanggigil din at minsan nara-rattle kaya nangyayari ‘yung error.”

Dapat panalo,” added the Laguna native.

In spite of the string of losses, Galanza, along with the rest of the team and the coaching staff, believe there are still good takeaways from the defeat they suffered from the hands of the Lady Maroons.

And for the spiker, being responsible for the big chunk of the team’s offense is a non-issue at all.

From this point on, the Lady Falcons will try to get back to their winning ways and bring back their killer instinct.

The task is not for the weak-hearted, however, as they are set to slug it out against defending champion Ateneo on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

“Sabi lang ni coach na gawin namin motivation ‘yung nangyaring 5 sets last year,” shared Galanza talking about the matchup against the Lady Eagles last season.

— By Mac Dionisio
