NHL: Preds edge slumping Leafs

The Maple Leafs hit two goals in 37 seconds early in the third period to give them the lead for the first time, but Mike Fisher levelled proceedings with his second goal of the game before Colin Wilson hit the winner eight minutes from time.

Toronto???s latest loss equalled the record set by the 1967 Maple Leafs, who won the franchise???s last Stanley Cup.

“I think that in the first period we turned the puck over too many times,” said Maple Leafs coach Peter Horachek.

“We were undisciplined with that part of the game, and that hurt us. I think the goals they scored were totally on us, and I didn’t think we were playing the way we were capable of.”

Nashville were seeking a ninth home win on the trot and got off to a dream start when Seth Jones scored a shorthanded goal on 12 minutes.

Shea Weber doubled their lead in the 15th minute with a slap shot on a power play but Toronto hit back in the second period through forward Daniel Winnk, who received Mike Santorelli???s pass and fired a first-time shot over Carter Hutton???s shoulder.

The Maple Leafs drew level when Nazem Kadri netted after David Booth???s breakaway attempt was saved by Hutton, and Mike Santorelli gave them the lead moments later with a wrist shot.

But their lead lasted less than four minutes as Wilson teed up Fisher for his second goal, and Fisher then returned the favour as Wilson clinched victory with his fourth in as many games.

“I think a lot of teams in this league take a lot of pride in playing at home, and we especially do,??? said Weber.

???We want to make it tough for teams to come into this building and play. That’s a big advantage when you can have that kind of record at home.”
