NHL: Blue Jackets stun Blues

St Louis had secured at least a point in every game since January 2, but Nick Foligno and Ryan Johansen had three points apiece for the Blue Jackets as their run came to a juddering halt.

Foligno and Cam Atkinson scored first period goals for Columbus, who moved into a 4-0 lead thanks to Johansen and Corey Tropp before Paul Stastny finally got the Blues on the board.

But Foligno grabbed a second and there were further goals in the third period from Matt Calvert and Scott Hartnell to put the seal on an ultra-impressive Blue Jackets victory.

Marc-Andre Fleury set a Pittsburgh Penguins record with his eighth shutout of the season as they eased to a 4-0 win over the Calgary Flames.??

Fleury pushed aside all 21 shots he faced and Sidney Crosby ended a mini-slump with two goals after David Perron and Brandon Sutter had put Pittsburgh in front in the first period.

Patrik Elias scored his 400th NHL goal as the New Jersey Devils cruised to a 4-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Elias’ seventh goal of the season added to Tuomo Ruutu’s opening goal, while Steve Bernier and Jaromir Jagr were also on target for the Devils.

Nicklas Backstrom scored the all-important shootout goal for the Washington Capitals as they saw off the Anaheim Ducks 3-2.

And Brandon Saad popped up with an overtime winner for the Chicago Blackhawks as they came back from an early deficit to beat the Winnipeg Jets 2-1.

Friday’s results:

Toronto Maple Leafs 1-4 New Jersey Devils

Anaheim Ducks 2-3 Washington Capitals (SO)
