Bruce buoyed by ‘terrific’ display

The Tigers looked as though they were heading for a famous win at the Etihad Stadium after taking the lead through David Meyler???s 35th-minute goal.

And even though James Milner rescued a 1-1 draw for Man City with an injury-time free-kick, Bruce still took the positives from his side???s display.

“It???s frustrating but the performance was the most important thing and we showed enough resilience to make sure we can stay in this division,” he told Sky Sports.

???We???ve got 14 games left, we are getting a few back quietly and we looked a different outfit. Let???s hope we can keep it up.

???The one thing we wanted after last week (3-0 home loss to Newcastle) was the effort and endeavour to show what we are about.???

The draw keeps Hull just above the relegation zone ahead of a crucial run of fixtures that sees them face Aston Villa, QPR, Sunderland and Leicester in their next five matches.

???We were all disappointed with last week and there was the response,??? said Bruce. ???In the first half in particular, we knew City would throw everything at us, but it was a terrific performance.

???It???s a shame and it???s cruel because I think we did enough to win the match.???

Asked about the foul on Sergio Aguero that led to Milner???s equaliser, Bruce said: ???It???s a soft free-kick, Aguero is a fantastic player with a low centre of balance but it looked to me just an arm on the shoulder and he has gone down.???
