Shlemenko scores much needed win

The event, which took place at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, included to straight knockout wins.

Shlemenko's victory came in the second round of the fight, after Manhoef avoided Shlemenko's attempts to take the fight to the ground and the former middleweight champion decided to go on the attack and strike. That strategy paid off, and fans were treated to a variety of spinning hits, including the powerful backfist that sent the Dutch challenger and former ONE FC fighter to the floor.

Shlemenko, who was humiliatingly defeated by Tito Ortiz at Bellator 120 last year and then lost his belt to Brandon Halsey in his next fight, used his post-fight speech as an opportunity to call for a rematch against Halsey to win his belt back.

He said: "Scott Coker please, I want my belt back. This is my belt. I made a mistake. I made a mistake. Halsey, I'm coming for you. Halsey, I'm coming for you."

In the night's other big event Daniel Weichel upset former Bellator featherweight champion and favourite Pat Curran via a split decision. It was a close fought battle, but Weichel kept his opponent on the backfoot enough during the fight to secure the win.

Julia Budd's Bellator debut was a deserved victory over Gabrielle Holloway.
