For the second time in three years, Sergio Garcia will skip the European Tour's season-ending tournament.
The Race to Dubai concludes this week at the DP World Tour Championship, but Garcia will be absent from the 60-man field.
The Spaniard, who is currently 27th in the Race to Dubai standings, missed the event in 2013 citing fatigue and concerns over a busy schedule.
Garcia's representatives confirmed the world number 11's decision to The Guardian, but gave no reason for his absence.
It is not the first time this year that Garcia has decided to miss a high-profile event, having sat out the opening two events of the FedEx Cup playoffs, The Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Classic.
The 35-year-old returned for the BWM Championship but did not qualify for the Tour Championship.
