New Steelers deal for Big Ben

The 33-year-old has spent his entire NFL career with the franchise since being drafted with the 11th overall pick of the 2004 draft.

He is a dual Super Bowl champion and has played in three Pro Bowls, as well as holding Steelers records for career wins, passing touchdowns, attempts, completions and yards.

Roethlisberger had been going into the final year of the eight-year, $102m (??69m) contract he signed in 2008, and the Steelers had remained confident they would get a new deal done with their franchise play-caller.

“It’s home. It’s family. As much as my wife and kids are family, so is the Rooney family and my team and coaches,” Roethlisberger told a press conference.

“I’ve always said this is where I want to be.”

Steelers co-owner Art Rooney II added:??”There is no question Ben has grown over the years and truly has become a leader of our team.”
