South Africa and Fiji are the only two teams going into the quarter-finals of the HSBC Hong Kong Sevens event with perfect records.
The Blitzbokke were particularly impressive on day two, trouncing Japan 27-0 in front of 38,900 fans at the Hong Kong Stadium before making short work of France, winning 29-7 thanks to a Seabelo Senatla hat-trick.
In the quarter-finals, Neil Powell’s side will take on Australia, while Fiji will face England for a place in the last four after beating Belgium 38-7 and Canada 45-0.
After already qualifying from Group D, England and the USA played out a highly entertaining 21-all draw, which secured Mike Friday’s men top spot in the group on points difference. In the quarters, the Americans will take on Samoa.
New Zealand responded well to their shock 24-all draw to Portugal earlier and top Group D thanks to a 14-5 victory over Australia in their final preliminary match.
They will take on Argentina, who finished behind the South Africans in Group C.
