Joshua sizes up Gavern test

The unbeaten heavyweight has been absent since last November due to a stress fracture in his back and weighed in at 17st 7lb for tomorrow’s clash against the American.

Targeting his 11th straight stoppage, Joshua appeared in excellent physical condition and towered over Gavern at the customary face-off. ????

Gavern, who came in slightly lighter at 17st 6lbs, reached the Prizefighter final on his last trip to these shores, eventually losing to Michael Sprott in 2013.

But Joshua will be hoping to sweep aside the Florida man as he warms up for a clash with Kevin Johnson at the 02 Arena on May 30.

Meanwhile, Stephen Simmons faces Jon-Lewis Dickinson in a potentially explosive cruiserweight clash, while Anthony Nelson battles Jamie Wilson for the Commonwealth super-flyweight belt.

Travis Dickinson, younger brother of Jon-Lewis, returns to action, and super-featherweight Stephen Smith and light-heavyweight Hosea Burton also feature on the undercard.??
