Adam Wainwright struck out six in six innings while Matt Holliday hit of pair of RBI singles as last season’s NL Central champions ruined the home debuts of Cubs manager Joe Maddon and pitcher Jon Lester.

Lester, a big-money investment during the winter, allowed three runs and eight hits as the Cubs, who were 0-for-13 with runners in scoring positions, were shutout for the first time in successive opening matches, having lost 1-0 to the Pittsburgh Pirates last year.
