Braves cruise past Miami in MLB

First baseman Freddie Freeman and shortstop Andrelton Simmons each went 3-for-5 with two RBIs to lead Atlanta. Third baseman Chris Johnson also added two hits and two RBIs. Atlanta (2-0) will now go for a sweep against Miami (0-2).

Steve Pearce went 2-for-4 with a home run and the Baltimore Orioles scored first times in the first inning en route to a win over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Orioles reliever Kevin Gausman gave up two runs in 2 1/3 innings to earn the win. Zach Britton pitched a perfect ninth for the save to improve Baltimore to 2-0.

Jordan Lyles worked six innings of two-run ball, and the Colorado Rockies hit six doubles for the second consecutive day en route to a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Rockies’ (2-0) offence picked up where they left off Monday, belting out 12 hits. Nick Hundley accounted for three hits, while third baseman Nolan Arenado, second baseman DJ LeMahieu and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki finished with two apiece.

Wil Myers’ RBI single drove in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning as the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-3.

San Diego scored four runs in the ninth to win their first game of the season following their opening day loss to the Dodgers. Los Angeles left-hander C.J. Wilson kept Seattle’s rebuilt lineup in check, while third baseman David Freese provided all the offense in the Angels’ 2-0 win over the Mariners.

Wilson held the Mariners (1-1) to two hits over eight scoreless innings to give the Angels (1-1) the win.

Colby Lewis pitched six strong innings, first baseman Prince Fielder drove in two runs and the Texas Rangers defeated the Oakland A’s 3-1, avenging the 8-0 loss they suffered on opening day.

Fielder went 2-for-3 and reached base in the first inning when he was hit by a pitch. Center fielder Leonys Martin and shortstop Elvis Andrus each had two hits.

Third baseman Jake Lamb and David Peralta hit three-run home runs to help Arizona right-hander Rubby De La Rosa win his shaky debut in the Diamondbacks’ 7-6 victory over the San Francisco Giants.

De La Rosa (1-0) gave up eight hits and six runs in 5 1/3 innings for his first NL victory since 2011 when he was with the Dodgers. ?? ????
