Gold for Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam

There were gold medals for Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam at the 2017 SEA Games in Equestrian Endurance, Tenpin Bowling, Water Polo and Wushu events on Sunday in Kuala Lumpur.

Equestrian Endurance:

Terengganu ruler Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin led Malaysia to two gold medals and one silver in the 80km equestrian endurance race.

Riding his mount RTES Anniversary, the Terengganu ruler won the individual gold medal followed by Mohd Bulkhari Rozali (JQ Tuan Junior) and Mohammad Fuad Hashim finished third on his horse Mora Makaka.

Water Polo: (Men’s team)

Singapore continued with their men’s water polo dominance when they won the gold medal at the National Aquatic Centre at Bukit Jalil.

In the final round robin match they defeated Malaysia 17-4 as Koh Jian Yi scored five goals and Loh Zhi Zhi netted three.

The Indonesians got the silver medal while Malaysia took the bronze.

Tenpin Bowling:

In the women’s singles event at the Sunway Pyramid, it was a gold medal for Singapore’s Cherie Tan Shi Hua with a score of 1,413 and silver going to Malaysia’s Jane Sin Li with 1,300 pinfalls. The bronze medal went to Shalin Zulkifli of Malaysia with 1,297 pinfalls.

Wushu: (Men’s Daoshu & Gunshu)

After a close battle in the men’s Daoshu + Gunshu finals at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, the gold medal went to Singapore’s Jowen Lim after he narrowly edged Achmad Hulaefi of Indonesia by scoring 9.68 points ahead of Achmad’s 9.67 points.

The bronze medal was shared between Malaysia’s Jun Lim Khaw (9.64) and Singapore’s Yi Xiang Yong (9.64).

Wushu: (Women’s Jianshu)

The gold medal, after scoring 9.67 points, went to Vietnam’s Thuy Vi Duong after she edged out Malaysia’s Eyin Phoon (9.63 points) who got the silver in the women’s Jianshu event at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

The bronze medal went to Singapore’s Hui Xin Fing with a score of 9.60.

Netball:

Malaysia thumped 65-41 to win the gold medal at the Juara Stadium. The Malaysian girls dominated the final from the first quarter.

Rugby 7s:

Malaysia beat Singapore 22-7 in the gold medal Rugby 7s final match at Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium.

The host nation dominated the match and were very much the deserved winners having played with determination and courage.

Synchronised Swimming:

Malaysians Gan Hua Wei and Zylane Lee Yhing Huey won the gold medal in the free routine duet event in synchronised swimming competition at the National Aquatic Centre.

They scored 76.3000 points to claim top spot with Singapore’s Debbie Soh-Miya and Yong Hsing taking silver 76.2333 points.

Indonesians Anisa Feritrianti and Claudia Megawati were third (71.4667).
