Ducks on verge of progression

The Ducks had to come from behind three times before Rickard Rakell scored five minutes, 12 seconds into overtime to seal the win.

Lee Stempniak’s first period strike was cancelled out by Cam Fowler, before five goals were scored in the second. Corey Perry and Jakob Silfverberg scored for the Ducks while Tyler Myers, Blake Wheeler and Bryan Little found the target for Winnipeg.

Anaheim’s Ryan Kesler scored with two minutes left in the third to make it 4-4 before Rakell sealed the win.

The New York Rangers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 to take a series lead.

Rangers went a goal ahead through Carl Hagelin after eight minutes before Chris Kreider doubled their advantage 11 minutes into the second.

Patric Hornqvist got one back in the third period but the Rangers held on.

The Minnesota Wild are also 2-1 up in their series against the St Louis Blues after a 3-0 win.

After a goalless opening period, Jason Pominville put his side ahead in the 15th minute of the second before Zach Parise doubled the score two minutes later.

Nino Niederreiter completed the scoring in the 18 minute of the third.
