Bruce: Home games will be vital

Bruce feels the current fight against relegation is one shared between five clubs ??? the current bottom three of Burnley, QPR and Leicester, his own Tigers team and Sunderland.

Hull have lost three games on the spin and are without a league victory since their 2-1 success against QPR on February 21.

It is a run of form which has left Bruce???s side outside of the relegation zone on goal difference alone, and even then by a slim margin with Leicester???s record just a goal worse than their own.

Bruce takes his team to Crystal Palace on Saturday and after that they play a sequence of three home games ??- against Liverpool, Arsenal and Burnley – which he feels will be crucial.

???There???s a certain level that you have to get to, whether that???s 34, 35, 36 points or whatever,??? he said. ???What I do know is that we still need to get a couple more results.

???So it doesn???t really matter what teams do around us, you???ve got to get the points on the board as soon as you can. There???s no doubt that we need to get a result to get us started again.

???We???ve got six games to play and after tomorrow, four out of the five are at home and I think that???s going to be pretty critical even though they are hard fixtures.

???Our home form has been decent until the turn of the year and we need to hope that???s the turning point for us.???

Although the gap between 16th-placed Sunderland and Aston Villa is only three points, Bruce feels the current bottom five are the only teams under threat of relegation this season.

???You would expect Newcastle to get results and for that not to continue,??? he said. ???There are five teams in it and it was terrific when there were seven or eight a couple of weeks ago and we???ve got to make sure we???re not one of the three.???
