Russian Grand Prix: FP3 as it happened

Follow all the action from FP3 at the Russian Grand Prix live right here.

18:10 Thank you for joining us for FP3, we’ll be back for Qualifying at 20:00. See you soon!

18:05 Here’s the final order for you then, Massa will be pretty pleased to get in amongst the Red Bulls…

18:00 And that will do it for FP3! The Ferrari’s are still holding sway, with Vettel a neat 0.3 seconds clear of the chasing pack. But can the red cars make it count in two hours’ time? We’ll have to wait and see!

17:55 Five minutes to go, most of the drivers are out, albeit on used ultrasofts. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciarod has stopped out on circuit with a lack of power. He seems have to gotten going again though.

17:50 Bottas dials up the pace and cuts the gap to 0.363 seconds, but remains P3. Hamilton, in P4, is 0.541 seconds behind Vettel.

17:46 Jolyon Palmer has limped his way back to the pits, presumably with engine problems. The Briton might face a bit of challenge in getting out for qualifying.

17:43 And as I say there’s no change, Bottas goes top on a 1.34.6, only for Raikkonen to go 0.343 seconds faster than his fellow Finn! But Vettel goes faster still, another 3 tenths up on Kimi!

17:40 No change for the moment, as the final 20 minutes approach. One thing to note is that the Williams of Lance Stroll (P7) is only 0.650 seconds behind the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo, despite not having used the ultrasoft tyre. Could Williams throw their hat into the ring ahead of qualifying?

17:35 25 minutes to go in the session, here’s the current order for you…

17:30 A second attempt from Hamilton sends him top, pipping Vettel by a tenth. It does seem that the utlrasoft tyres are allowing the drivers to have more than one bite at the cherry, which could be significant come qualifying.

17:24 Vettel has had another go and shaves almost 7 tenths off Raikkonen’s time. Bottas has gone P2, 0.420 seconds adrift of the German, with Hamilton P4, 0.767 seconds back.

17:18…but their dominance doesn’t last long as Kimi Raikkonen posts a 1.35.6, while teammate Vettel goes P2 on a 1.35.8.

17:12 The Red Bull pair have a go on ultrasoft tyres and duly climb to the top of the order, with Verstappen on a 1.37.4, a fraction quicker than Ricciardo…

17:07 Daniil Kvyat is the first to set a time, a 1.38.2, and is swiftly followed by the Force India’s of Perez and Ocon, both on a 1.38.3. All three drivers are on supersofts.

17:02 Several drivers out immediately on a mixture of soft and supersoft tyres

17:00 Green light, let’s get to it!

16:50 Weather for you: a relatively cool are temperature of 19 degrees, but the track is at 33 degrees.

16:45 For his part, Vettel wasn’t overly convinced by Mercedes’ apparent problems, while Hamilton denied that the German outfit were hiding any pace. Time will tell, although nobody would be surprised if the Silver Arrows turned on the magic during qualifying to start on the front row. However, if they really are struggling for pace, it would be the first time in a long time that they looked really vulnerable.

16:40 …But there were some struggles for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton struggled to set a representative lap and endured several tyre lock-ups, excursions off the circuit and being held up by traffic.

16:35 As a reminder, Ferrari set the pace during yesterday’s sessions, with first Kimi Raikkonen and then Sebastian Vettel topping the timesheets…
