Hawks advance with tight win

DeMarre Carroll led the Hawks with 25 points on a heartbreaking night for the Wizards who thought they had taken the game to overtime at the death when Paul Pierce made a three-pointer only to discover the shot clock had expired.

The game six victory gave the Hawks a 4-2 series win and they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Conference final, a first appearance in a final since the franchise moved to Georgia in 1968.

In the West, NBA MVP Stephen Curry was the star of the show as the Golden State Warriors advanced to the Conference final with a 108-95 win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Curry poured in 32 points, including a stunning buzzer-beating 62-footer at the end of the third quarter, to help the Warriors to a 4-2 series win and a first final since 1976.
