Newcastle, Sunderland and Hull are all fighting to stay in the Premier League going into the final weekend of the season.
Shearer experienced relegation on the final day of the season when he was manager of Newcastle in 2009.
???I know what John is going through, I???ve been there myself, it???s not a nice feeling,??? Shearer told Sky Sports. ???Steve Bruce is exactly the same and I???m sure Dick Advocaat will be feeling very down, very stressed.
???But the table never lies after 38 games and the three teams that do get relegated, deserve to be relegated, so you can???t really argue.
???But I???m just like the rest of many thousands here in Newcastle, hoping they can pull something from somewhere, to give the fans something to shout about on the last day.
???It???s going to be a desperately disappointing day for someone on Sunday, unfortunately, it???s going to have to be Sunderland, Newcastle or Hull.
???I???ve got everything crossed, I???m sure John Carver has and I hope his players can just roll up their sleeves and give it one big go.???
However, United???s all-time goalscorer, believes the players must take the blame for the position they find themselves in.
???You have to say that, their performances have been nowhere near good enough and no one can get away from that fact,??? added Shearer.
???I know we keep on saying it, but the fans up here really do need something to shout about because it???s their life; it???s what they go to work for and it will be desperately disappointing if we get relegated on Sunday.
???It???s been hard for them, they???ve had nothing to shout about for weeks now but they still come out in their thousands, still pay their money and they just want and crave something to shout about.???
???I hoping and praying that Newcastle can give them that on Sunday.???
