Swansea have made a strong selection of managers over the years including Kenny Jackett, Roberto Martinez, Paulo Sousa, Brendan Rodgers??and Michael Laudrup.
“We do our best to make sure our football club is always in the right hands,” Jenkins told Sky Sports. “With every appointment, you always keep your fingers crossed and hope things work out.
“But looking at each individual, it’s trying to make sure that the personality is right at the right time. Timing is a big thing. The club needs certain things at certain times and the squad of players need that too.
“Looking back, when Roberto (Martinez) left the club we did a change in a slight direction, and then the other managers came in with Brendan (Rodgers) and Michael Laudrup and now Garry Monk. Each one was thought of and picked out because the timing was right.”
Current head coach Monk, who was appointed after Laudrup was sacked because the club lost faith in him, has helped Swansea seal their highest Premier League finish of eighth place with a club-record points total this season.
“It coincides with Gary being appointed full-term this summer,” added Jenkins. “He stepped in last year and finished the season strong for us. He???s had a fantastic year and has brought the squad of players together. You can see they’ve got a good, collective motivation, and a commitment behind the club.
“He’s done all what we thought Gary could bring to us and more. He’s done a remarkable job. Garry is new to it, let’s hope he spends more than two years like Roberto and Brendan did in his position with us.??
“But let’s not forget clubs in the Premier League and around Europe are always looking for young,up-and-coming talent in managers and players, and we???ve got to accept where we are sometimes and realise that???s something we???ve got to contend with because of our success.”
