Royals slip to third straight loss

Scott Feldman gave up one run and four hits in six innings against his former team as the AL West leading Houston Astros beat the Baltimore Orioles 4-1.

Addison Russell was the hero for the Chicago Cubs with his hit in the ninth securing a 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals while the Detroit Tigers edged out the Oakland Athletics 1-0.

Josh Donaldson hit a walk-off three run home run, his second of the night, in the ninth inning to help the Toronto Blue Jays to a 10-9 win over the Chicago White Sox.

After nine scoreless innings, the San Diego Padres scored four in the 10th to beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-0, while city rivals Dodgers hammered Atlanta Braves 8-0 thanks in part to six runs in the fourth.

The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up their fifth win in a row as they beat the Florida Marlins 5-1, while the Texas Rangers extended their winning streak to seven after they edged out the Cleveland Indians 4-3.

Tampa Bay Ray’s challenge to the Yankees continues to fade after they lost their fourth game in a row, going down 7-6 to the Seattle Mariners after 10 innings. Kyle Seager scored a grand slam in the eighth and then won the game in the extra inning.

The New York Mets also needed an extra inning as they beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 thanks to Wilmer Flores’ single, while the San Francisco Giants moved to 27-20 for the season after 6-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Elsewhere, the Cincinnati Reds beat the Colorado Rockies 2-1, the Minnesota Twins were 2-1 winners over the Boston Red Sox and the Arizona Diamondbacks were beaten 6-4 at the St Louis Cardinals.
