Howard was suspended after he picked up his fourth flagrant foul of the postseason when he hit Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala in the neck during Game 5 of their Western Conference finals on Wednesday.
The 29-year-old was not initially called for a flagrant-1 foul, but the NBA upgraded it after reviewing the incident.
Howard was not too fussed about missing the 2015-16 season opener as he was more disappointed about his side losing 4-1 to the Warriors.
"Well, that means I have to play 81 games hard, not 82," Howard told reporters. "I can't do nothing about it now, the playoffs are over with for us. We had a great run, so despite getting whatever happens next year for one game, its not going to take away what we did this year in the playoffs."
