Lars Eller, T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams also scored for the Capitals.

In New York, the Rangers doused the flames for a 4-3 win for a fifth win in seven.

Chris Kreider and Jesper Fast scored midway through the third period for New York.

Michael Grabner scored a goal and earned an assist while Rick Nash also scored for New York.

The Oilers snapped a three-game slide thanks to Leon Draisaitl’s shootout goal that gave them a 1-0 win over Edmonton.

Cam Talbot made 22 saves for Edmonton.

The Canadiens dropped to 1-3-1 in their last five games after a 3-2 loss to Washington on Saturday.

Al Montoya finished with 32 saves for the Canadiens.
