James gives Cavs advantage

James enjoyed a 40-point game for the second time in the 2015 NBA finals as the Cavaliers picked up where they left off on Sunday to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Cleveland’s talisman collected a triple-double as the Cavs squared the series at 1-1 on Sunday night and he took centre stage once again 48 hours later – registering 40 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists.

James was ably assisted by 20 points from Matthew Dellavedova, while Stephen Curry scored 17 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Warriors competitive.

The Cavs, up by 17 points at the end of the third quarter, survived a furious final-quarter rally and a Curry three-pointer with 18.9 seconds left drew the Warriors to within three points.

But James sunk a couple of free-throws in the closing seconds to earn the Cavs a second win in 48 hours and they can stretch their series lead to 3-1 with victory in Cleveland on Thursday night.
